Are You Out of Touch With Yourself?

If you are out of touch with yourself, how can you touch anyone else? We need to make sure we know who we are, where we are and where we need to be to be able to reach out and touch others in their lives.

I am running so crazy so much of the time that I think sometimes I lose myself -- not that I am some place where I don't know where I am literally, but that I don't really know how I feel much less why I feel the way I do.

I have found that if I take just a few minutes each morning on my way to work to just spend in quiet contemplation and meditation and prayer with God that my day and the plans of my day are much clearer. I find that even when unexpected things happen that they don't make me feel lost. I have gotten in touch with myself early and I know where my focus needs to be each day. It is only then that I can reach out and touch others because I can see more clearly the spiritual needs of others.

Today, spend a few minutes of quiet meditation and prayer and know where you are in your own life so that you can see the spiritual needs of others around you.

Until later,

A Word Fitly Spoken

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." Proverbs 25:11

Words to live by. How often do we snap at people because they snapped at us? And then say, 'well, that's how they talk to me'? Does that make it right?

This past week, I've had people snapping at people all around me and I really don't like it. It makes me very uncomfortable. It also makes me realize that people who have no hope in Jesus have bitterness in their hearts. These people who are snapping at us or around us need our prayers and witness in their lives so that maybe they can change theirs.

And as for me - if I could only be half as good as a person as my dog thinks I am, I'd be great ! ! My dog loves me unconditionally and is usually always happy to see me. She is a sweet little dog and is always there and doesn't snap :-)

Until later,

Do Something Nice for Someone Else - No Strings Attached

How often have you done something for someone out of a feeling of obligation? Or done something because you thought you might need a favor later and they will be the one you will ask?

Many times, we do things because we feel like we have to or because we feel like we owe someone because they have been nice to us or done something selfless for us. How many times have you seen someone you really didn't know and probably never will see again and stopped to help them or just say hello? Never expecting anything in return? How many times have you gone out of your way to talk to someone who you had already judged by the way they looked? How many times have you taken the time to find out what someone wants before deciding that they are not worth your time?

Sometimes, I think we are all guilty of judging people by their looks or the surrounding and determining that they are not worth our time. WOW ! Not worth our time. . . We can't give of ourselves to talk to someone who has a question or needs a word of sound advice. God gave his Son - His Son gave his all -- and we can't give our time? Our precious time?

Today, take the time to stop and think of the kind of impression you leave on people you meet in your life. Stop and really think about the effect you have had on the people you have met today. Make a mental note to yourself to try to encourage those who need encouragement, uplift in prayer those who are in need of uplifting, listen to those who just need someone to listen and take Christ to the lost and dying world.

Today remember all the things that we have and take for granted -- including those people who annoy us sometimes :-) and remember that God loves them too and they could be a better person if you took the time to share Christ with them.

Your mission in life today is to do just that -- take the time to share Christ with someone today. Pray with someone who just needs a pick-me-up and enjoy your day !!

May God teach us all to be better people and much, much more like Him.

Independence Day in America

Today is the day that we set aside to celebrate our independence - the day that we celebrate the freedoms that we have in America. The freedom to worship is one of those things that we should celebrate.

We don't have the persecution that the early saints had . We have the liberty to attend worship services without fear of being killed. We should take every opportunity we have to worship God and thank him for the abilities that we have to attend worship services freely and without fear.

Today during all the celebrations, pause for a time and thank God that you have the freedoms that you have in America and thank God for America - no matter your situation or status in this life, you can take time to worship. Tomorrow, we will be attending worship services and having another luncheon at the church - a wonderful time to enjoy old friends and possible make new ones.

Thank God every day for this nation - no matter your political views - and thank God for thos freedoms that we have -- GOD BLESS AMERICA and thank you Lord for the freedoms I have and the opportunity to serve you!
